Masters Swimming
Masters Swimming is a program designed for adult swimmers 18 years and older who want to continue swimming after their high school or collegiate years. While it’s often associated with competitive swimmers, it is open to adults of all ages and skill levels—from beginners looking to improve their fitness, to experienced swimmers aiming to refine their techniques or compete at higher levels.

Craig is currently a Level III USMS coach. He has coached at the college level at James Madison University as well as numerous summer league teams. He is the Head Masters Swim Coach at Sunset Ridge Aquatics Masters.

What to expect at Masters Swim Practice:

-
Coached Training Sessions: Sessions will be led by Craig West, Level III Masters Coach and NC Masters Swimming board member, who will tailor the workouts to a variety of skill levels. These sessions are structured to help swimmers improve their technique, stamina, and strength, while also learning new skills and strategies for efficient swimming.
-
Social and Community Aspect: One of the great things about masters swimming is the camaraderie. You get to train alongside swimmers with diverse backgrounds and experiences, creating a motivating and supportive atmosphere. It’s an excellent way to meet new people who share a passion for swimming.
-
Competition Options: For those who are interested in racing, there will be the opportunity to compete in meets ranging from local competitions to national events. However, competition is always optional, and many people focus on personal goals rather than pursuing a competitive career.
-
Age and Experience: Masters swimmers come in all ages and experience levels. Some swimmers have decades of experience, while others may be just starting out. The program is built to allow swimmers to progress at their own pace, ensuring that everyone can find a comfortable starting point and continue to challenge themselves as they improve.
